Hi all. I received the free Similac Diaper Bag when my baby was born. The size and style of the bag seem perfect for me. I don't need a big bag because I'm using cloth diapers and EC'g. Like many mamas I'm on a tight budget. I really do like this bag anyway though....however, I'm concerned about the vinyl in it as far as PVC's, pthalates, etc. .... Does anybody know if cutting out the vinyl from the interior would make the bag safe...1) if only a trim on it is left 2) would cutting it release any more chemicals? Also, is the outside fabric of the bag safe...I'm not sure what it is.
I did see the FleurVille bag. It looks ok but is it really 'safe' even though it's made from plastic?
Thanks for any input anybody can contribute to this!!
I think that instead of using Vinyl Diaper bags, you can resort to safer and child friendly materials especially in this age where there are polymers that haver been developed for this specific purpose. Plastic diaper bags that have been "baby proofed" and created with safer formulations are more reliable and acceptable by baby safety standards because they make sure that diapers are zip locked at all times. I think that most diaper bags have also been tested for safety and usability for children and if you are concerned with your diaper bag garment then you can go to the web and view several product reviews or articles related to the brand in question.
